Saint Joseph pair charged with distributing prescription meds

A pair of Saint Joseph residents has been arrested by local authorities on charges that they were illegally distributing prescription medication.

Agents with the Narcotics Division at the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department report that the investigation targeted 16 McIntyre Road residents Malcolm Lee Willis, 77, and Rose Ann Franklin, age 46.

Both Willis and Franklin were arrested on charges of sale of a Schedule II controlled substance (hydrocodone) and conspiracy to distribute a Schedule II controlled substance (hydrocodone).

During the investigation, agents report that they seized a 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo believed to have been used in the sale of narcotics, along with $6,011 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of illegal drug sales.

Sheriff’s department officials wish to remind the public that they welcome all tips regarding illegal drug activity and other crimes.
